The Padre Island National Seashore is a national park that can be found just outside of Corpus Christi. This national park contains roughly 70 miles of natural seashore habitats for a variety of animals, including jellyfish, sandhill cranes, and sometimes even sea turtles. Sea turtle hatchling releases occur from mid-June to August, and many are open to the public. Even if getting up early to watch a hatchling release doesn’t sound appealing (most hatchling releases occur at 6:45 AM!), there are still many other activities at Padre Island National Seashore. Go camping, rent a canoe or kayak to take out on the Gulf, or take a walk along the beach. Take a look at their website to find even more things to do.
